Auto Accidents

The doctors and therapists at Pure Chiropractic Center specialize in the treatment of traumatic injuries suffered in motor vehicle accidents. If you have been involved in a car accident, whiplash injuries need to be taken very seriously.

Because symptoms of a whiplash injury can take weeks or months to manifest, it is easy to be fooled into thinking that you are not as injured as you really are. Too often people don’t seek treatment following a car accident because they don’t feel hurt. By far, the most common injury to the neck, and spine is a whiplash injury.

Whiplash is caused by a sudden movement of the head, backward, forward, or sideways, that results in the damage to the supporting muscles, ligaments and other connective tissues in the neck and upper back. Our staff has years of experience working with motor vehicle accident claims working with both insurance companies and lawyers.

Work Injuries

Our chiropractors and massage therapists are providers in the Washington State Labor and Industries network. Our staff is trained to file your claim with the department right from our office so you have one less thing to worry about.

Did you know that one of the most stressful aspects of living in modern life is dealing with the problems that arise after an unexpected work accident? Were you also aware that most work accident injuries are seldom detected for months or even years? Workers’ Compensation Insurance covers chiropractic care and massage therapy.

Research studies have repeatedly found that chiropractic care gets people back to work much sooner and at far lower cost than medical care for the same type of on-the-job back injuries.

Sports Injuries

Many amateur and professional athletes are sidelined with injuries that could be avoided. Others sit it out on the bench because their injury does not respond to ordinary treatment. Still others are playing, but at less than peak efficiency, simply because their structural system is not balance.

Progressive coaches, athletes, and doctors are realizing that pain killing drugs are not the answer. They merely cover up the symptoms, deceiving the athlete into actions which could make the injury more serious. Probably more than any other health profession, Chiropractic’s approach to health closely relates to the needs of the sports participant.

Most sports involve body contact, fast starts and stops, and positioning that places an unusual amount of strain on the back and structural system.

Back Injuries

Back pain is the second most common reason for visits to the doctor’s office, outnumbered only by upper-respiratory infections. In fact, it is estimated that low back pain affects more than half of the adult population each year and more than 10% of all people experience frequent bouts of low back pain.

The susceptibility of the low back to injury and pain is due to the fact that the low back, like the neck, is a very unstable part of the spine. Unlike the thoracic spine, which is supported and stabilized by the rib cage.

This instability allows us to have a great deal of mobility to touch our toes, tie our shoes or pick something up from the ground, but at the cost of increased risk of injury.

Headaches

Headaches affect just about everyone at some point and they can present themselves in many different ways.

Some people only experience pain in one part of their head or behind their eyes, some people experience a pounding sensation inside their whole head, and some people even experience nausea, while others do not.

The pain itself may be dull or sharp and may last for anywhere from a few minutes to a few days. Fortunately, many headaches can be helped with therapy.

Disk Injuries

Of all the biomechanical (structural) ailments of the spine, a disc condition can be one of the hardest to treat. It requires the longest amount of healing time, approximately twelve weeks.

In contrast, a muscle strain will usually heal in two to four weeks and a ligament strain in four to six weeks. The lack of a direct source of blood supply is the main reason the disc takes so long to heal.

A disc only receives nutrients when the motion of the bones above and below the disc causes some blood within that bone to be pumped into the disc. However, this pumping action actually becomes hindered due to the attendant back muscle spasms, which develop to protect the back from further injury.
